Marietta, GA, US, June 7, 2007 - Eka Chemicals, Akzo Nobel´s Pulp and Paper
Chemicals business, will increase the price of sodium chlorate in North America effective immediately, or as contracts permit, by $50 per short ton in the USA and by CD$40 per metric tonne in Canada.
“This pricing action is primarily the result of the supply and demand balance that has
greatly reduced our ability to optimize production while meeting our contractual supply
agreements,” says Greg Bengtson, Vice President Marketing and Supply Chain
Management, Eka Chemicals North America. “Higher demand is due to the North
American market conditions and increasing global consumption for sodium chlorate.”
