Crosslinkers/insolubilizers

Eka crosslinkers improve quality, reduce cost
You can boost sheet performance with nanoparticle-based products for surface treatments. Eka Chemicals has patented a treatment system in which zirconium crosslinkers have the ability to react with starch, surface size and fibers. This allows the size-press solution to remain on the surface, which makes it easier to use lower-grade starches without sacrificing print quality and low dusting.

We help you to make the right choice
Our crosslinkers and insolubilizers can be used in a wide variety of application areas. The main reason to add crosslinkers is to improve the coating properties, such as the (wet) durability, tear strength, fastness, hydrophobicity and rub resistance.

Insolubilizers reduce the water solubility or sensitivity of the pigment binders used in coating formulations. They also strengthen the binder and improve the surface strength of the coated sheet. As a result, the paper can better withstand the aqueous solutions and mechanical stresses it is subject to during the printing process.

Selecting the proper insolubilizer involves three primary considerations: binder types, cure rate requirements, and pH considerations. Eka Chemicals is well qualified to provide dependable guidelines for optimum insolubilizer selection, thanks to our experience and broad product line.
