Eka Chemicals maintain a highly qualified staff involved in R&D. These activities involve chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorate, and hydrogen peroxide technologies and their application for the bleaching of pulp. Through lab activities, pilot plant analysis, and full-scale mill trials, the knowledge and applications of these products are continuously being analyzed, evaluated and improved. Our R&D organization, in association with the Eka Chemicals Patent department, has played key roles in the development of many patented and proprietary technologies.
There is also a group of specialists in pulp bleaching processes for evaluating different bleaching sequences in order to optimize the consumption of bleaching chemicals. This group is unique in the industry and has performed literally hundreds of field trials and evaluations as a service to customers. This assistance includes improving bleaching efficiencies and the evaluation of new raw materials or bleaching chemicals. Eka Chemicals has a long experience and is one of the front-runners in the development of elemental chlorine free (ECF) and totally chlorine free (TCF) bleaching processes.
